About Us

Dilem (Hızlan) Erol, PhD

Dr. Dilem Hızlan completed her undergraduate education at Boğaziçi University, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics. She subsequently joined the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg to study Structural Biology and received her PhD in 2006 from a joint program of EMBL and Heidelberg University. She continued her work as a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysics in Frankfurt am Main.

Since 2011, Dr. Hızlan is involved in project development and management activities for national and international grants. First at Istanbul Şehir University and then at Sabancı University she supported Faculty with the development and management of many succesful projects for the following programs; nationally TÜBİTAK ARDEB & TEYDEB (1505 University - Industry Cooperation Support Program, SAYEM), Istanbul Development Agency Programs, IPA (Competitive Sector Programs) and in international projects; European Union Framework Programs (FP7, H2020 and Horizon Europe), EUREKA/Eurostars, ERA-NET projects.

In parallel to her work at Sabancı University, she took part in the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) Project and worked as a member of the EEN Health Sector group. In this context, while providing consultancy to companies and research institutions in the Istanbul region on EU Grants, she carried out activites such as establishing international collaborations, organizing information days and brokerage events.

Furthermore, as a member of the EU Programs Working Group of ARGEMIP (R&D Centers Communication and Cooperation Platform), Dr. Hızlan took part in awareness-raising activities and trainings for EU programs for platform members.

Dr. Hızlan has also been a member of the Executive Board of TÜBİTAK TEYDEB programs Biotechnology, Agriculture, Environment and Food Technologies Group since May 2020.
